Position Overview

A well-established and growing commercial real estate company in Baltimore is seeking an experienced Property Accountant to join its on-site finance team. This role will be responsible for full-cycle property accounting for a commercial portfolio and will work closely with property management and leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual property-level financial statements
  • Manage general ledger activity, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Prepare and reconcile CAM, operating expense, and real estate tax recoveries
  • Review lease abstracts and ensure accurate setup of rent, billings, and escalations
  • Handle month-end close processes and variance analysis
  • Assist with annual budgets and forecasts at the property level
  • Coordinate with property management to resolve discrepancies and support operations
  • Support external audits and lender reporting as needed
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal controls

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of commercial real estate property accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of CAM reconciliations, lease structures, and property financials
  • Experience with real estate accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar) preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work fully on-site in Baltimore
